This might be applicable. I have been using a nylon mesh bag for Armillaria root fungus studies. The bags I am using are 4 in. diameter (stretchable to 6 in.) and 8 in. deep (16 in. stretched length), with a 1/4 in. mesh. The supplier has several mesh sizes and diameters available, and can cut them to any specified length. They also come in several colors which may be useful for designating treatments. I have found the bags to be light, flexible and extremely strong (they were originally designed for food packaging, e.g. chickens, vegetables, etc.). I selected the mesh to be wide enough to permit normal transmission of water and the fungal structures that I was looking for. However, this mesh may be too large for you. The supplier will send you samples and prices upon request: Linda Hartman Masternet Ltd. 1255 Lorimar Drive Mississauga, Ontario, Canada L5S 1E2 tel: 416-795-0005 fax: 416-795-1247 Sincerely, David Ip E-mail: davidip@mdo.nofc.forestry.ca Forest Insect and Disease Specialist Voice: 01-204-983-1735 Canadian Forest Service Fax: 01-204-983-8792 Department of Natural Resources 200-180 Main St., Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada, R3C 1A6
