Hello,

I am currently working in the field of environmental stress physiology in 
southern Africa - in particular, drought effects and arid environments.

I am looking for information, or sources of information, on climatic factors 
in the Middle East - Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, United Arab Emirates, Oman. 
Factors such as: regional and local rainfall amounts and patterns, 
temperature, and soils.

If anyone knows where this information can be readily accessed, I would 
appreciate the advice. We are looking at vegetation patterns and 
specifically tree species best suited to arid environments, but we lack the 
kind of detailed climate data for northern Africa and the Middle East to go 
along with the vegetation distribution.

I would also like to correspond with individuals interested in environmental 
stress physiology research (forestry and non-commercial forestry) as well.
