Following Boris Zeide's "Pipe dreams" of 27/8 to the network I thought memebers might like to pitch in on the following question: What do we call these "things" from the forest which are not timber? I've seen them described as: Non-timber forest products; Nontimber forest products; Nonwood forest products; Under-exploited forest products; minor forest products; under-utilised forest products; lesser-known forest products; forest fruit and nuts; alternative rainforest products; and even "native jungle crops"! It seems we can't even agree what to call them. Is there a published standard? On a more serious note, I have been working with NTFPs/NWFPs/..... (you see my point now!) in the Solomon Islands. I would like to present and discuss the results at a conference. Is there a suitable conference scheduled for mid-1994?
