It is good to hear that I was not the only one concerned whether the reaction to position announcements over FOREST would be favourable. As a result I've been spreading an announcement by word of mouth and missing many potential candidates. I have a position for a lecturer/senior lecturer in forest management. The fields in which he/she should be capable to teach undergraduates would be in growth and yield, harvest scheduling, management planning and operations research. The Faculty of Forestry at Stellenbosch University has fifteen lecturers covering the fields of forest management, sylviculture, forest engineering, nature conservation, mechanical processing and chemical processing of wood. Stellenbosch itself is a small university town nestled against the Hottentots-Holland mountains in the wine-producing region of the SW Cape, about 45 minutes from Cape Town. Apologies if this sounds like a travel brochure, but it hardly gets any better than this (some people say Vancouver is nearly as good!) At present the available position is a non-tenure track with the position being funded under contract for up to two years at a time. The fine-print details will be fowarded upon request. Kindest regards to you all Brian Bredenkamp -- Brian Bredenkamp Professor of Forest Management Faculty of Forestry University of Stellenbosch Phone: 02231-773295 Fax : 02231-773603
