RESOURCE TECHNOLOGY 94 - TORONTO
Theme: DECISION SUPPORT - 2001

Date: September 12 - 16, 1994
Location: Delta Chelsea Inn, Toronto
Hosted by:	Forestry Canada and the Resource Technology Institute

In 1994, you and your organization will find great interest in an
international conference that finally addresses an important issue in
the use of information technology in natural resource management -
decision support. From September 12-16, 1994, resource managers,
scientists, and technology developers from government and industry will
gather at the Delta Chelsea Inn in Toronto. This will not be just
another conference. A mix of information technologies in a range of
natural resource disciplines will be presented and discussed. The
technologies include decision support systems, remote sensing,
artificial intelligence (expert systems, neural networks), geographic
information systems, data and knowledge bases, and visualization. The
natural resource disciplines include forestry, agriculture,
environment, lands, water and oceans, fish and wildlife, and parks.
Issues will be debated and conclusions drawn for guiding the
development and use of technologies in decision support. A special
event will bring all together in a resource technology marketplace,
which will include a cross-section of vendors from mainstream to those
in specialized niches.

This conference, known as Resource Technology `94, is being hosted by
the Petawawa National Forestry Institute of Forestry Canada, and the
Resource Technology Institute of Fort Collins, Colorado. It is one of a
series of conferences that have been held since 1988, normally every
two years. This is the first time this conference has been held in
Canada. It will provide an opportunity for greater Canadian involvement
on the timely issue of decision support. RT `94 will truly be
international with cooperation from many countries. The conference will
also provide a forum for US/Canada resource technology issues. This
"hands-across-the-border" approach will encourage participation from
federal, provincial, and state agencies who have a role in natural
resources.

Plan now to attend RT `94, and please consider sponsorship, or
participation by way of paper or poster presentations and panel
discussions.
