CALL FOR PAPERS: OPERATIONAL RESEARCH AND FORESTRY
SPECIAL ISSUE OF INFOR
on
Operational Research in Forestry
Guest Editors:
Dr. Eldon Gunn, Technical University of Nova Scotia
Dr. David Martell, University of Toronto
Dr. Ilan Vertinsky, University of British Columbia
Forestry holds a place of particular importance in the Canadian and
international economies and this importance will continue in the
coming years. Forest management poses unique problems for operational
researchers both because of the long time scale of the planning
process and because of the diverse economic, environmental and social
consequences of the management decisions. The purpose of this Special
Issue is to provide a forum for the presentation of fundamental
problems in the planning, management and operation of forest systems,
and to demonstrate the contribution of operational research methods in
the analysis and resolution of these problems. The list of topics that
will be considered for inclusion in this special issue includes:
- strategic issues in the management of forest resources
- forest harvest scheduling
- forest protection
- investment in forest resources and processing capacity
- environmental considerations in forest management
- other issues in forestry
Authors interested in contributing to this special issue should
contact one of the guest editors listed below. Contributors are asked
to submit five copies (double spaced) of their manuscript. All
manuscripts submitted will be evaluated using the standard review
process of INFOR. Manuscripts should be submitted as soon as
possible. If you wish to submit a manuscript, please contact one of
the guest editors listed below, by February 28, 1993.
