Tropical biology, anyone?

Please join the discussion in bionet.biology.tropical, a
Usenet newsgroup. If your computer doesn't carry Usenet,
you can get an e-mail subscription by sending a request
to the folks at biosci@net.bio.net.

Many of the participants in bionet.biology.tropical have
ongoing research projects in the neotropics, but there
are some subscribers who work elsewhere in the tropics.
Recent topics include the welcome addition of Peru to
the list of Latin American countries with access to the
Internet. Peru joins Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Columbia,
Ecuador and Uruguay among South American countries to
have computers on the Internet, and Costa Rica, Guatemala,
Mexico and Nicaragua in Central America. And there has
been a great deal of interest expressed in remote sensing
and vegetation mappping in Amazonia.

Electronic networking is a novelty for most biologists,
and consequently there have generally not been enough
of us around to sustain active discussions about fields
as specialized as tropical biology. But that is changing,
and I think you will find our discussions worth joining.

Hope to see you there!
