POSITION DESCRIPTION: SUPERVISORY ECOLOGIST
GRADE: GM-13 Career Conditional
APPROX. SALARY RANGE: $46,210-$60,070 per annum
LOCATION: Great Smoky Mountains National Park
Gatlinburg, Tennessee
This is a supervisory interdisciplinary position. The successful candidate
will serve as research administrator for the Great Smoky Mountains National
Park science program. The individual will supervise and coordinate program
planning and execution, administrative functions, contracts, and agreements.
She or he will manage the park air quality program and coordinate activities
that are part of a long-term ecological monitoring program. This scientist
may serve as a Principal Investigator on ecological research projects. Many
opportunities are available for collaborative work with scientists at nearby
Cooperative Park Studies Units, faculty at The University of Tennessee, and
researchers at institutions such as Oak Ridge National Laboratory and the
Tennessee Valley Authority.
The Great Smoky Mountains National Park is located within approximately
one-half million acres on the boarder of Tennessee and North Carolina.
The park is a known as a center of biodiversity for North America and
is also the most visited Park in the United States.
