Forest-list now existing for 30 hours, the issue has already been
raised whether there should be specialized lists for the different
subfields of forestry.  Forestry, and natural resource management
overall, is a large area which could justify several lists.

My opinion is that this single forest list be used for all
communication for some time.  Please use the subject field wisely to
indicate what subfield, e.g. soils, is being discussed.  If the demand
grows, we can set up additional specialized lists next to the general
one.

We are working to connect the forest list to usenet.  Because many
IUFRO members are not directly connected to internet and do not receive
usenet feed, the decision was made to have the mailing list as the
primary medium.
