The management of the permanent field experiments
on drained peatlands
The project was set out to examine the previous long-term field
experiments on drained peatlands and select the test stands that
best serve the fields of research that have current and future emphasis
and to create a maintenance programme for them.
A national database was created for the permanent field experiments
on peatlands. Information on 600 sample plots was saved into the
database. 160 of these plots have been measured since 1990 and are
still in active use. The database of permanent experiments on peatlands
provides information for drained peatland researchers of ecology
and silviculture about the development of tree stands and vegetation
since the early 1900s.
