Additional markets for wood products in
Germany
Metla and Pellervo Economic Research Institute PTT carried out
a collaboration study to explore the competitiveness of wood in
the German market.
The project covered investigation of industrial customers' opinions,
the image that timber has with them, and the key timber properties
for selecting wooden products into their portfolio. Additional market
capacity is available for wood products in Germany. Visual properties,
operating characteristics, such as light weight, workability and
environmental quality are the strengths of wood. These characteristics
are especially important when marketing products to the furniture
industry. The project received funds from the Wood Wisdom
programme.
